I am still looking for a job. I have on average 2 interviews a week, but I haven’t had any offers. This is frustrating because I don’t seem to be doing bad in the interviews, that I can tell; yet I am not getting the jobs.

I have recently started to expand my job search to surrounding states, Wyoming, Colorado, and Arizona. I am open to other locations too, but those are just the ones that I know I wouldn’t mind living in. I am also open to new types of employment, as long as it is steady and I am able to make ends meet. I had a few companies contact me for Insurance sales, but every time they want hundreds of dollars to get trained and licensed. Speaking of licenses I have completed the education requirements for my Real Estate license, but I don’t have the money to take the exam. Oh well, maybe later.

Anyway, I am still looking and am not being very successful. I just hope the lord has something in store for me that doesn’t involve homelessness.

I have been doing a lot of job searching, as most everyone knows. Lately, the past month or so, I have had some great successes. I use success lightly here, because a real success would be that I would have a job. However, what I am referring to here is that I have been able to get interviews. I have been averaging about 1.5 interviews a week, which I think is pretty good. I have a couple of prospects that are sill hot, one of which I hope will land me a job.

I just got laid off today. I have always complained about my job, but I didn’t think it would end like this. I guess this is an opportunity for me to go and get a job I would actually enjoy doing. Who knows what that is, I sure don’t.

I have thought that counseling or occupational therapy would be good, but I have to have a ton more education. I already have a masters degree, and that would mean I’ll have to get another.

Then I thought about real estate, I have already taken some real estate classes when I was going to UVSC (now known as UVU). The problem with that is the money isn’t always steady and it depends on the market, which I hear isn’t so great.

So, where does that leave me? I don’t know….

Just thought I would update my blog. To my Facebook friends, I know you all have heard all this, I just wanted to update my blog with this too.

So, it hasn’t been a great year so far. Shortly after Christmas I was able to buy a truck. It is a used 1998 GMC 1/2 ton pickup. It is a pretty nice truck for the money. I never wanted any thing too fancy and didn’t want to spent too much, so this truck works great. Of course this isn’t the bad part, that happened two weeks later when someone hit my truck, which was parked in front of my house at the time, and just left. So now my nice truck has a big dent in the door and it will cost me at least $900 to fix.

Now for my job thing. I have made it no secret that I am not satisfied with my job. However, regardless how I feel about it, I go in everyday and give my best. I feel I put in at least what I get in wages. However, in my yearly review and subsequent talks with my boss indicate management doesn’t see it my way. Yes, I do make mistakes. After all I am human and have my faults, but I try my best and give my all. I get the feeling this is not enough for them, but I don’t know how to give more. I feel I am doing as good as anyone could given my position and resources provided to me. So I will be looking for other oppertunities.

Finally my life. In general my life is good. I have a beautiful wife, awesome kids, and great friends. What I feel I am lacking is a real profession or trade. Many people are defined by what they do, like a Banker, Lawyer, Doctor, even a garbage man. Me, I have no title I am willing to be known by. People think of me as the computer guy but I don’t see that as a viable profession. I went to college for business and got an MBA, but I am not a Business Man. For the past year I have thought of going back to school to learn a profession, but I just don’t know what I would study. Maybe I am better off being known just as husband and father. Mostly I just want to provide for my family without having to worry about my ability to give them what they need and want.

So, we just sent home our first batch of foster kids. These boys where great kids and a ton of fun to have. It was a big challenge to have three at once, but I think it was a great experience for me and Rhonda as well as our two kids. It shows how much we can handle and how much we can’t. I think if we got use to it we could handle three additional kids, but I would still like to ease into it.

I am looking forward to our next placement and hope we continue to have great experiences with these great kids that need our help.

It still gives us a “Home” number we we use our cell phones for it. Kind of cool.
